### What is a perfect rhyme?

A perfect rhyme shares the same stressed vowel sound and all sounds that follow it, with a different consonant onset before that vowel — light with night, heart with part. Spelling can differ; the check is pronunciation-based.

### What is a slant rhyme?

A slant (near) rhyme shares a related vowel family and coda family from the last stressed nucleus — night with side — or differs by dropping or adding one final coda segment (mind with time). Looser than a perfect rhyme; useful when exact matches feel forced.

### How is this different from the rhyme finder?

This page checks whether two words rhyme. The rhyme finder lists many rhymes for one word, grouped by syllable count.
